Gentle Breeze

A gentle breeze flows through the trees
As my mind fills with memories
Of the life I lived in slavery
Before I was reborn

Never happy, never free
Lost in chains I could not see
I needed you so desperately
But I was all alone

There was no where for me to go
I had not future and no hope
There was no place to call my home
I was truly lost

So many tears I never cried
So empty deep inside
I just wanted to run and hide
But you can’t hide from yourself

Just then You came to rescue me
Break the chains I could not see
You showed me what it meant to be
Alive for the first time

At a place called Calvary
You brought me down to my knees
And there you set the captive free
And opened up my eyes

You are my future and my hope
You are my fortress and my home
And I will never be alone
Because You died for me

So though I lived in slavery
And with that comes old memories
As the gentle breeze flows through the trees
I smile, because I am reborn
