The Race

The Race

Have you ever felt like you're in a relay race?
Dropped the baton but realized too late
Your teammates are waiting there's no time to waste to keep the lead

Well this isn't' your typical kind of a race
You don't have to be first, don't even have to place
And the only one who can set your pace is God

You could run this race a thousand times
You could run at the speed of light
But you will never reach the finish line without Jesus at your side

So don't look at the others as they run by
Don't get discouraged don't give up and die
We all have a lifetime to run

This isn't' your typical kind of a race
Sometimes it will feel like you're running in place
But to whom you're committed will keep your pace unto the end

His grace is sufficient His power is too
To Him every trial is nothing new
So wait on the Lord He will get you through today

This isn't your typical kind of a race
You don't have to be first, don't even have to place
So wait on the Lord He's your only way to reach the finish line

My daughter has an aluminum baton that she received during a ceremony at our Home School umbrella. (We have to have a church sponsor (umbrella school) for homeschooling in AL and we are actually called "Satellite Schools" legally.)

The director gave each Senior this baton and shared how a race was run and now we need to pass our values on to our children.

This poem would go great with giving out batons to VLB's!!

I believe you are the Queen of object lessons. What a great idea.

I LOVE object lessons! When the kids were little, for devotions, I would send them their toy box to pick out a toy and to come up with a Bible lesson with it. Dustin came up with a really great salvation message with his coloring book one time.

We have this prop box in the basement for me and the kids & I collect props or objects all the time (along with puppets at the Thrift store, I got a large hairy dog puppet with arms and legs for a $1.50 one time) Actually, Halloween (sshh, don't tell) is a great prop time. I have rubber shackles and webs and spiders for "sin" lessons. Swords and armour and Of course, angel and devil costumes for skits. I picked up fake blood for a lesson I am doing on "the blood of Jesus" and how we tend to keep it to ourselves.

Wow, you really are the Queen! If you weren't serving the Lord I bet you would be a drama teacher somewhere.

A really good one!

Probably just a "drama queen". Ha!!!

I forgot to mention this is actually a song. I have a guitar in the closet that I once aspired to play.

Terra,
I could only bang on a tambourine. Unfortunatley, I'm not musically inclined at all.

Sorry, you gave up your blog. I enjoyed it, but we can talk like this.

Adults have just as short attention spans as children sometimes, so object lessons are good for them too! Ha!

Haley:
I would love to hear the song one day! How did your trip go?
